Plot Synopsis[]

The Tribe Season 2 Amazon Prime Danni

This series focused on the Mall Rats trying to unite the Tribes and find an antidote for the virus, as the Tribe ally themselves a new unknown tribe, later revealed to be the Chosen take over the city. Series 2 showed a much more overarching plot. The focus was less on the inner struggles of the tribe, and more on their struggles as part of the many tribes that make up the city.

Series 2 started with a shock, the satellite beamed across the night sky, a tribe The Chosen knew it was time to get into action. Meanwhile, a generator in Eagle Mountain caught fire and an explosion resulted, costing the lives of Amber and Zandra. Bray was knocked out during the explosion and Lex broke the news to him. Sad at first, Bray's love for Amber was soon forgotten when he came across Danni. While Bray soldiers on, Lex spirals into the opposite direction and becomes an alcoholic, and even attempting to rape Salene, this get's Lex kicked out of the Tribe until Ryan goes to look for him. Top Hat arrives at the mall, infected with the virus, wanting his hat back. KC beats him for the second time, but Top Hat escapes later.

With Amber's replacement, Danni and the Mall Rats struggle to unite the cities, they introduce a Trading Market, a newspaper and a Bill of Rights into the city. It is Tai-San who discovers the antidote, she memorizes it, then burns it to stop other members of the tribe, like Ebony, from using it to take advantage of the other tribes. When Tai-San shares her secret with Bray, Ebony plots with The Chosen to kidnap Trudy and Brady and brainwash them into joining the The Chosen's cause, Bray gives Ebony the recipe for the antidote in defeat. Ebony later tries to kill Tai-San with poison, but, accidentally kills the Mall Rat's beloved dog, Bob instead.

During the series we see many of the characters pasts, we see how Bray's shy little brother Martin became the insane Zoot. We see how both Trudy and Ebony fell in love with Bray, and when Trudy and Martin conceived Brady. When Ebony is tortured by her ex-militia leader, Spike, for framing him for the attempt on Tai-San's life we discover why Ebony is so ruthless and manipulative. We see Ryan and Lex meet at a boot camp and Lex's affair with the vicious, much older female sergeant at the camp. And we also find out that Danni's father accidentally created the killer virus while trying to make the Elixir of Youth.

A double marriage soon takes place, with Ryan and Salene, and Tai-San and Lex. The series ends with a climatic face-off between the city's leaders and The Chosen. The Chosen win and many of the Tribe leaders, including Danni, are murdered or disappear after this. Bray, Lex and Ebony manage to escape the city while The Chosen take over the mall.

Series 2 behind the scenes

Series 2 saw The Tribe grow in budget, and as a result, was a much larger season in terms of costumes, locations, characters, makeup and storylines. New music was added to Series 2 over time while still keeping most of the Series 1 music, with a few exceptions. Principal photography started on August 9th, 1999[1] and ran for six months until the last day of shooting on February 4, 2000.[2] Post-production occured while the series was in production and ended in April 2000.[1]

Character Introductions[]

Reception[]

Series 2 is considered to have some of the best makeup and costumes of the entire series. The storylines of The Chosen and the Antidote has been acclaimed by fans for its darkness. However, criticism has been directed at the character of Danni, who is seen as the obvious replacement for Amber. Many fans felt Danni was not individualistic enough and that the character replaced Amber's position too quickly. The same fans also consider the character very annoying and intrusive. Regardless, the season holds a place in many fans hearts as it's the last season that many of the original cast survive, before most of them were written out in Series 3 and 4.
