Patsy is one of the original Mall Rats.

She is the twin sister of Paul. Patsy is extremely distraught when Paul disappears, and blames Lex for causing him to run off. Cloe comforts her and the two end up becoming best friends.

Patsy was initially a very naive girl. She brought Glen to the Mall thinking he was an adult, who had aged rapidly due to the virus, causing herself and the Mall Rats to become infected. Patsy was later tricked by a brainwashed Trudy into helping The Chosen kill Ebony, who ends up surviving the assassination attempt.

Fearful for her life, Patsy joins The Chosen but redeems herself by becoming a spy. However she ends up being caught and was sent away. The Mall Rats initially believe she was dead, but The Collective reveal they have information on Patsy and are looking for her and Paul.

History[]

Series 1[]

Patsy-1-(10)

Patsy and her twin brother Paul

Patsy along with Salene, Cloe, Bob and her deaf brother Paul, were originally surviving together. However they ran out of food and decide to have one last play at a playground before they give themselves up to the Locos. Amber and Dal find them at the playground and they flee to the Mall after the Locos attack them. Lex, Ryan & Zandra soon follow them to the Mall. She is very upset when Paul goes missing, but still stays at the Mall and blames Lex for Paul's disappearance.

Believing Glenn to be an adult, Patsy brings him to the Mall only to learn he isn't an adult and has the new strain of the virus, which causes kids to look old. Patsy is horrified to be infected with the virus and is isolated. Cloe however, chooses to be by Patsy's side despite being infected, the rest of the Mall Rats soon follow. Glenn later dies from the virus and Patsy attends his funeral.

Patsy later travels to Eagle Mountain with the Mall Rats in search of the Virus Antidote. However, tragedy strikes when an explosion occurs that kills Amber and Zandra.

Series 2[]

Trudy and Patsy

Trudy and Patsy

Patsy is upset about the deaths of Zandra and Amber after burying them. She is taken back to the Mall along with KC, Ryan, Salene, Cloe, Trudy, Brady and Bob. Bray later finds the Antidote and the Mall Rats drink it to save themselves. They choose to give it to the entire city for free. Patsy and Cloe often help give the city people the Antidote on a daily basis.

Wanting complete power, Ebony plants poison in Tai San's room to kill her. But Bob drinks it instead and dies from poisoning. Patsy is horrified by Bob's death and is comforted by Cloe. They bury Bob on the hillside. Trudy later picks Patsy to look after Brady, but The Chosen kidnaps her and Trudy blames Patsy. Trudy herself would later be kidnapped by The Chosen and disappears for months.

When Trudy comes back, claiming to have escaped, she secretly starts brainwashing Patsy with Zoot propaganda. Patsy willingly goes with it as she still feels bad for letting Brady get kidnapped by The Chosen. Cloe notices something is wrong with Trudy but Patsy doesn't listen and their friendship deteriorates. Patsy doesn't realize the wickedness of Trudy at that time.

Soon, Patsy would be manipulated by Trudy to accidentally cause Ebony's death. Horrified and very confused, she later learns Ebony didn't die. But chooses to betray Trudy to go back to Cloe who forgives her. However, The Chosen take over the city with Patsy and the Mall Rats captured.

Series 3[]

Trapped within the Mall and under intense pressure, Patsy joins The Chosen again to save herself from starving, but this displeases the other Mall Rats as they see it as betrayal. However, Alice and Ellie convince Patsy to secretly spy on The Chosen. Cloe is also recruited as a spy, but they decide not to tell Patsy in case one of them gets caught. Patsy also learns that Amber is alive to her joy.

When Cloe is caught and taken to the mines, Patsy is deeply upset and wants to pull out as a Mall Rat spy but Alice and Ellie persuade her to keep going. Sadly, Patsy is also caught and taken away. Luke and the Mall Rats were told she had been killed by The Chosen. May would take Patsy's place as a Mall Rat spy.

Cloe's Photo of Patsy

Cloe remembers Patsy

After The Chosen's downfall, Cloe escapes from the mines and returns to the Mall with Jack. Both learn of Patsy's supposed demise. Cloe keeps an old photo of her and misses her best friend deeply. Patsy is only mentioned once in Series 4 by Cloe and is never mentioned again. The Mall Rats believe Patsy is dead, but her true status remains unknown.

The Tribe: A New World[]

A reality space version of Patsy briefly reappears as Amber's bridesmaid along with Cloe at the wedding of Amber and Bray. But Bray soon realises the reality of his supposed wedding to Amber, which turns out to be in reality space, as many dead people are present at the wedding like his brother Martin/Zoot and Dal. Bray is soon awaked from it after Judd removes his Reality Space Visor.

The Tribe: A New Dawn[]

When Tai San was in captivity, she was shown images of Ryan, Patsy, Paul, Alice, KC and Danni. Possibly hinting that they are captives of The Collective. Later, Eloise takes some of the Mall Rats to Eagle Mountain and it's revealed that the facility had 3 levels than previously believed. Amber wonders if the original Mall Rats like Patsy had been taken away by The Collective for their possible knowledge on Eagle Mountain.

The Tribe: (R)Evolution[]

When the Mall Rats are captured and sent to Eden, they reunite with Ryan, Alice and Tai San. However the remaining missing Mall Rats are not in their hands. The Collective even mention they are trying to search for Patsy and Paul, meaning Patsy was never a captive of The Collective in the first place and they simply have data of her.

Trivia[]

  • Patsy and Cloe began to change their looks in Series 2 in order to attract boys. Thus, they began to dye their hair and change their looks, going for a more "mature" look as the seasons continue.
  • Patsy is one of the only characters to have her birthday celebrated on-screen, which occurs during Series 1 Episode 37. The other is Sammy who is seen celebrating in Series 5 Episode 46.
  • Patsy is seen wearing a white-themed outfit in the Abe Messiah music video that is never seen in the show.
  • The fact that Patsy was easily manipulated by Trudy into almost killing Ebony is fitting considering that her name means to be easily taken advantaged of. A literal Patsy, which has come to mean a victim of deception.
  • Patsy mentioned that her father was a journalist. [1]
  • It's been alleged over the years that Patsy was removed from the show because Sarah Major's agent had arguments with the producers concerning money and the character's development. Due to this, Sarah was abruptly pulled off during Series 3, explaining why the character was taken away off-screen. However, this rumour has never been confirmed by any official source.
  • It is never revealed how Patsy was caught by The Chosen, with the characters simply stating that she was "caught and taken away." Unlike Cloe who was mentioned to have been found in a restricted room stealing confidential information, this same room was later found by May who took Patsy's place.
  • Patsy, along with Ryan, are the only original Mall Rats not to reunite with Amber when she returns because they were both taken away by The Chosen. However, Ryan would later reunite with Amber in The Tribe: (R)Evolution, while Patsy is still MIA.
  • Although Patsy doesn't appear anymore after Series 3, she can still be spotted in the opening and end credits of the show until its cancellation.
    • Similarly, she can be seen in flashbacks in Series 4 Episode 51. But Sarah is uncredited in that episode.
  • When asked about Patsy's status on the offical Tribe forums, creator Raymond Thompson doesn't consider Patsy dead like how the show implies. She was instead sold as a slave after being caught spying. [2]
    • It's important to note that The Chosen had lied to the Mall Rats that Bray and Dal were dead even though they escaped execution in Series 3 Episode 4. So it's similarly believed that The Chosen had lied that Patsy was killed to discourage the Mall Rats.
    • Additionally, Patsy is heavily hinted to be alive in the Sequel Novels. The Collective specifically mention they have data of Patsy and Paul and are trying to locate them. [3]
