The Tribe has produced several books during the run of the series and after its cancellation.

Two English novels were released in the early 2000s, focusing on life before the virus and events that did not show up on screen. Many novels were written for the German market exclusively, published from 2002 to 2005.

The official story of The Tribe continued in the form of A New World, a novel released in 2011. It was followed up by A New Dawn in 2014, and (R)Evolution in 2019, with plans for future releases continuing the official story.

Harry Duffin was planning to publish a novel titled The Blood of Judas, which took a different approach to the premise of the series, not limited by television ratings. Instead, it resulted in Birth of the Mall Rats in 2012, a novelization of Series 1 with additional scenes and characterisation.

Trivia[]

  • The novels by AJ Penn are the only canon stories to have follow ups.
  • While the novelisations and manga are advertised as Part 1, no additional follow ups have been announced since their release.
  • Although the German books are non-canon, Raymond Thompson said he can't say whether they are canon or not as he hasn't read them (nor the pre-tribe stories on tribeworld.com) which contain vital additional information. It will be decided in the future if any element of these books will become canon or not. [1]
